The University Design Center gives interior design students the real-world experience of working with organizations and businesses to provide research, design, and space planning services.
This year, High Street United Methodist Church in Muncie approached the design center to update several high traffic and visible spaces within the church, including the main entryway, parlor, and garden court.
Church board members reviewed several projects and selected the design crafted by sophomores Avery Reiter and Sara Rokosz.
“Our main focus was to create a space filled with happiness and peace that also inspired worship,” Rokosz said. “We wanted to bring family and friends together in the Connect Center (formally the parlor center) before and after each service. Each of the spaces was essential for members to come together, hold small functions, and receive event information and updates about the church.”
