Michael Burayidi’s article entitled “Africans in Harlem: An Untold New York Story by Boukary Sawadogo” was accepted for publication in the Journal of Urban Affairs.

Patrick Danahy’s paper entitled “Visual Character Analysis Within Algorithmic Design, Quantifying Aesthetics Relative to Structural and Geometric Design Criteria” has been published in the CAADRIA 2022 Post Carbon Conference Proceedings, receiving the award for “Best Presentation Runner Up”.

Harry Eggink’s article entitled “The Soul of the Sketch” has been accepted for publication in the 2022 Design Communication Association Journal: Representations.

John Fillwalk is co-presenting “Case of the Kidnapped Healthcare Professionals: Developing a Virtual, Avatar-based, Multi-user 3D Video Interprofessional Escape Room” with Lori Porter, Blair Mattern, Karrie Osborne, and Katherine Berryhill from Ball State College of Health at the Nexus Summit.

J.P. Hall, Jeremy Merrill, and Christopher Baas‘ co-authored article “Tree-ring Analysis of the Free Black Beech Church: A Surviving Relic of an African American Farm Community” has been published by the Journal of Archaeological Science: Reports. 

Jeremy Merrill coauthored an article with Dongying Li, currently of Texas A&M entitled, “Nature deficit and senses: Relationships among childhood nature exposure and adulthood sensory profiles, creativity, and nature relatedness”, has been published in Landscape and Urban Planning.

Robert J. Koester’s article “LEED Lab co-founder publishes guide to the program (USGBC Indiana)” has been published on the U.S. Green Building Council’s website.

Grants

Sarah Keogh and Bob Koester, 2022 Provost Immersive Learning Pilot Grant Award for the “New Hope in a Tiny House Village” project.

Kevin Klinger, 2022 Provost Immersive Learning Pilot Grant Award for the “iMADE Projects in Muncie, IN: Locally Crafted Design-through-Production Projects with University, Industry, and Community Partnerships” project.

Kristin Barry received a grant for “Interpretations of the National Cemeteries” funded by the National Cemetery Administration in the Department of Veterans Affairs.

Andrea Swartz and Dave Ferguson received a three-year grant entitled “CAP@MadJax – Maker Culture Leadership” awarded by the Ball Brothers Foundation. The grant supports CAP’s footprint at MadJax where BSU CAP students and faculty connect design education with community needs while expanding design and making programming for K-12 students.

Sean Burns and Kristin Barry co-chaired the 37th National Conference themed “BLATANT | LATENT on the Beginning Design Student” at CAP. March 31 – April 2, 2022

Natalie Yates was the 2021 Exhibit Columbus University Design Fellow. Her project entitle “Calibrate” was exhibited in the courtyard of Franklin Square, home of the Heritage Fund of Bartholomew County, in Columbus, Indiana.
